DoorDash is a US-based on-demand food delivery service founded in 2013 in San Francisco. Until now, the company has been operated in three countries, the United States, Canada and the last is in Australia, which entered at the beginning of September 2019. In its homeland DoorDash is the leader and fastest-growing company in the food delivery field, leaving several competitors such as GrubHub and Uber Eats.

In Australia, Uber Eats still a leader in the food delivery market even though it has only been in the Australian market since 2016. Following Uber, there are several companies that play in the same industry such as the UK-based company Deliveroo and the Sydney-based company Menulog.

The presence of DoorDash in the country has a positive effect on Australian foodies since they have a new option for ordering their favourite meals online.
